A warm Webb welcome to our new recruits
We are delighted to welcome four new faces to our friendly team here at Webb Associates. Our latest additions are all passionate about public relations and have a wealth of experience between them – and we are thrilled to have them on board!
Meet Emma, Becky, Paul and Claire…
Emma Speirs, Senior Account Manager
Emma joins us with more than 10 years of experience in the PR industry, during which time she has fulfilled a number of editor roles for various B2B magazines, educational publications, websites and online magazines.
Having studied a degree in English and Media Studies at De Montfort University, Emma graduated in 2002 before moving into public relations.
Her extensive experience includes writing press releases, setting up TV and radio interviews, hosting events, launching and maintaining social media channels for her clients, overseeing marketing activity, and liaising with the press to gain coverage for the companies she worked for.
Emma says: “I hope that through having been on both sides – as a publication editor and press officer promoting the activity of businesses – I can strengthen the good work that Webb Associates is already doing, satisfying both the needs of the client and the media.”
Becky Milne, Account Executive
After graduating with a degree in Public Relations at the University of Westminster, Becky went straight into the media industry, working as an account executive for a PR agency with a focus on consumer technology.
For this role, Becky was tasked with organising events and PR stunts for a number of high-profile clients, as well as looking after their social media channels.
Becky says: “I have a keen interest in the property industry so when I learnt that Taylor Wimpey is one of Webb Associates’ clients I really wanted to join the company to gain experience in this area.
“I hope to implement my previous experience with the media and my knowledge about social media into the work that I do for my clients here, in order to maximise coverage.”
Paul Gadsby, Senior Copywriter
With a degree in Media Studies and NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) qualifications under his belt, Paul spent several years working in news and sports journalism at both local and national level, including ITV Teletext.
He later moved into B2B journalism, editing magazines and journals, and more recently, he worked for a marketing company as a writer prior to joining Webb Associates.
Paul says: “Writing is my passion and in my spare time I have had two books published, one a non-fiction title about snooker called ‘Masters of the Baize’, and the other a crime fiction thriller titled ‘Chasing the Game’.
“I joined Webb Associates to enhance and broaden my copywriting skills in a PR setting, and look forward to helping the team continue to deliver high-quality PR solutions that help companies grow and thrive.”
Claire Stevens, Copywriter
Claire graduated from De Montfort University in 2014 with a degree in English Language and Journalism. Whilst studying for her degree, Claire gained valuable experience in the journalism industry, spending a number of weeks at both the Leicester Mercury and the Derby Telegraph on the newsdesks.
During her final year at university, Claire also worked part-time for a monthly local community magazine called Soar Valley Life, researching and writing about local news and events for each edition, and updating the magazine’s website too.
Before joining Webb Associates, Claire was working for a homeware supplier, for which she produced the content for their weekly online blog, writing about their latest products.
Claire says: “I wanted to join Webb Associates as a copywriter because the work involved is so relevant to my degree and the company was essentially advertising for my dream job – I love to write and want to learn more about writing for PR purposes.
“I wanted to join the team even more when I met Jane, Rob and Ed at my interview. They were so lovely and put me at ease during a time when normally I feel really nervous – so I knew straight away that this was a company I wanted to work for!”
